A moment of reflection with Rabbi Rena Singer
Re-entering a pandemic altered world, I suddenly appreciate privileges that I used to take for granted; hugs, parties, seeing someone’s full face, even the ability to just sit with a friend inside. As these small luxuries become increasingly normal, I am trying to hold on to that feeling of excitement and gratitude for life’s most basic comforts. I think back to the story of Jacob waking up in the middle of the desert and exclaiming “God was in this place and I did not know it.” Life gets so stressful that it is easy to forget that we are surrounded by holiness.
