A moment of reflection with Rabbi Andrea Cosnowsky

“The Holy One Blessed Be God sits and sustains all creatures, from the horns of the wild ox to the eggs of lice.” - Shabbat 107a

The Talmud reminds us that if God takes care of the lowest of organisms, doesn’t it make sense that God is sustaining we humans as well? We need not worry about meriting this grace, it is available to all of God’s creatures. Thus, we should act in accordance with this idea that God’s compassion is always flowing, and that God’s loving-kindness and care come to all creatures – great and small.

Rabbi Andrea Cosnowsky, Congregation Etz Chaim
